Ligue 1 outfit Lyon have confirmed the signing for defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from Roma believed to be in the region of €10 million.
The 26-year-old made the switch to the Stadio Olimpico outfit just 12 months ago, and following 28 Ligue 1 appearances last term, has signed a 5-year contract with the Ligue 1 runners-up.
As such, Rudi Garcia is set to pocket €8 million from the sale of the former Newcastle United defender, and could profit an additional €2 million from bonuses.
Lyon confirmed the deal via their Twitter channel, saying: “Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has committed 5 years for €8 million purchase that can be completed with an extra €2 million in bonuses. #teamOL”
Yanga-Mbiwa originally joined Roma on a season-long loan deal from the Magpies early September last year, however it became a permanent switch in January.
The defender leaves the Italian capital after one season, in which he will be remembered for scoring the goal that sealed Champions League qualification for Rudi Garcia’s side.
