Palermo have confirmed the the loan signing of Alberto Gilardino from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.

The 33-year-old striker has been training with his team mates in Sicily ahead of putting pen to paper and finalising the deal.

“Gilardino is ours , we have a deal with the player,” President Maurizio Zamparini told reporters.

It seems the Rosanero have managed to fill the gap left by Paolo Dybala following his €32 million move north to Juventus.

The Sicilians had been chasing Arsenal and Costa Rica international Joel Campbell until Arsene Wenger decided he was unprepared to sell the young striker.

Gilardino spent the last half of last year playing on loan in the Serie A for Fiorentina where he scored four goals in 14 appearances. The first half of last season saw the Italian score five goals in 14 matches while playing in China.
