Palermo confirm signing of Italian international

alberto gilardino italySerie A side Palermo have confirmed the signing of Guangzhou Evergrande striker and Italian international Alberto Giardino.

The former AC Milan forward has been linked with a move to the Stadio Renzo Barbera for the majority of the summer transfer market, while a return to Fiorentina had also been mentioned.

The Sicilian side confirmed the deal on their official club website.

The 33-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the Viola, scoring four goals and contributing two assists in his 14 Serie A appearances.

Gilardino won the World Cup with the Azzurri in 2006, as well as celebrating success in the Champions League with Milan in 2007.

The World Cup winner has played for his fair share of Italian clubs in his time, including Genoa, Bologna, Parma, Piacenza and Hellas Verona, as well as those previously mentioned.
