Roma president James Pallotta has insisted that he has nothing against the Giallorossi fans.

The Curva Sud protested the American’s ownership of the club with silence in the opening minutes of the 2-1 win over Juventus as they feel he wants to remove ultras from the stadium.

“It is frustrating to watch the game and see a section of the fans not supporting the team,” said Pallotta to Roma’s official radio station.

“I never said anything against the Curva Sud, I just said that there are some bad apples which is true everywhere, I never said anything about the Curva as a whole.

“I received so much love from the city and the fans, I hope that everyone understands that we are trying to do the best to win.

“I invite the fans to see the model of the new stadium, the Curva Sud is key to the project

“You could hear the cheering from the TV in the win over Juventus, the whole stadium supported the team.

“We want to build a great team and I hope that the fans understand what we’re trying to do.”

The American then reiterated his desire to make I Lupi into champions.

“We are building the team, it’s my third year but we have brought some great players to Rome, I was impressed with [Lucas] Digne,” added Pallotta

“We also have a lot of quality on the bench, it takes time to build a team and sometimes myself or the coach can become scapegoats.”

Finally, the president said he wished he could be based in Rome but admitted he needed to be in America to help negotiate sponsorships.

“I wish I were in Rome but we are working hard for the stadium and the sponsors,” Pallotta went on.

“What Juventus did last year was fantastic, I hope that we will be champions and I cannot wait to for the six games in the Champions League.

“I am proud of the team, who played so well for 90 minutes against a good Juventus side.

“But it’s just one game, the team will train for the next match.

“I was pleased the enthusiasm of [Edin] Dzeko, he is the kind of character that we try to bring in to create a strong team. ”
