Former Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo believes his old club have what it takes to overcome Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday when last season’s top two meet.

The 36-year-old Italy international completed his move to American Major League Soccer side  from the Bianconeri in July following four successful years in Turin.

“Who will win? I think Juve because they are the champions of Italy, although Roma have strengthened a lot and is trying to reach the level of Juventus. It will certainly be a balanced game and nice to see,” Pirlo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Pirlo also revealed his shock at The Old Lady’s opening day defeat to Udinese last weekend.

“I never thought that Juve could lose to Udinese at home. But the Italian league is difficult, full of pitfalls in each match. I believe, however, that Juventus is still the best team. ”
