de maio genoaSebastian De Maio is going nowhere according to Genoa president Enrico Preziosi, with Napoli reportedly interested in signing the defender.

The Partenopei have been trying to sign a new centre-back for the majority of the summer and have had a number of bids for Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic rejected.

“De Maio to Napoli? All nonsense, it’s absolutely not true,” Preziosi told Radio Kiss.

“I’ve never heard of an offer from De Laurentiis. At 48 hours before the end of the market you can not sell a player who is so important to us.

“I deny vigorously any contact with Napoli, there’s never been a negotiation between myself and their leadership to bring De Maio to Naples.”

Preziosi also criticised Napoli for leaking their interest in the Frenchman.

“And I do not understand how they can leak this news, every time I’m surprised.

“The player is with us and will remain with Genoa, he is focused and I have no intention to sell him today or on Monday. De Maio will remain with us. ”
