Queens Park Rangers coach Chris Ramsey believed Atalanta provided a tough test in Sunday’s pre-season friendly.

Jasmin Kurtic’s excellent opener set La Dea on the way to a victory in the west London sun but the hosts drew level through Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’ deflected strike in the second half.

“It was a tough challenge because of the way they knock the ball around and the way they defend,” said Ramsey to ForzaItalianFootball.com after the game.

“Playing Atalanta has helped us to learn a little bit more about the players that we’ve got.”

The English coach also answered questions about the future of the recently relegated side’s star players Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips.

“We’ve had a couple of bids [for Austin] but they’ve not been the right amount of money for how we value a player of his quality, if we get the right offer then he won’t be here which is a shame.

“We’ve had quite a lot of offers [for Phillips] but people are trying to take advantage of our situation; he’s a bright player, a young player but we haven’t had the right offer so he isn’t going anywhere.”
