Roma drawn against BATE Borisov, Bayer Leverkusen and Barcelona in Champions League

The Catalan giants are the top seed in the group while the Giallorossi went in as the third seed.

UEFA’s draw ceremony confirmed that Roma will meet BATE Borisov, Bayer Leverkusen and Barcelona in Group E.

The German side already have experience of beating Roman opposition after they eliminated Lazio by a 3-1 aggregate scoreline in the play-off to make it to the Group Stage.

The Lupi previously met Leverkusen in the 2004-5 Champions League with the Bundesliga outfit winning 3-1 in Germany while the fixture ended in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma recently met Barcelona in the 2015 edition of the pre-season Trofeo Joan Gamper with the Blaugrana running out as 3-0 winners.

BATE Borisov are the only Belorussian team to have qualified for Europe’s elite competition and the 2015-16 season marks their fifth appearance at the Group Stage.
