Roma are set to offer midfielder Kevin Strootman a contract extension.

The Dutchman has struggled with a succession of injuries ever since he was stretched off in the Giallorossi’s 1-0 defeat against Napoli in March 2014.

Il Tempo reports despite this run of bad luck, the Capital club are keen to renew his contract, which would tie Strootman to the club until 2019.

The 25-year-old could have another serious operation, which would most likely rule him out of any action in Serie A for the 2015-16 season.

Strootman arrived at the Stadio Olimpico for a fee of €17 million plus add-ons from PSV and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United which would reunite him with his former Netherlands boss Louis Van Gaal.
