Sampdoria are reportedly close to signing left-back Geferson from the Brazilian club Internacional.
The 21-year-old has only recently been called up to the the first team of the Porto Alegre-based club, but has made an immediate impression in both the Brazilian top flight and the Copa Libertadores.
Tuttomercatoweb.com reports that the defender is close to an agreement with the Blucerchiati who are hoping to beat off competition from Serie A rivals Atalanta with a bid worth around €5.5 million.
The Genoa-based club are considered to be the player’s preferred destination and the signing could be completed following Roberto Soriano’s potential departure from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Sampdoria are optimistic that they can wrap up the deal and sign the Brazilian following his agent’s decision to travel to Italy and negotiate in person with the Blucerchiati.
Geferson made his senior debut for the Nacao Vermelha in February 2015 and has previously reperesented his country at the under-17 level.
