A group of Sampdoria fans have sent a petition to the club calling for coach Walter Zenga to be sacked.

Sampdoria lost 4-0 to Vojvodina last week in the first leg of their Europa League 3rd qualifying round tie, leaving them on the brink of elimination and fans have reacted angrily to the defeat.

As reported by Tuttmercatoweb.com, Sampdoria fans have signed a petition calling for Vincezno Montella to replace Zenga as Sampdoria coach.

Montella enjoyed two successful playing spells at Samp, between 1996- 1999 and during the 2007/08 season.

The former Roma striker was sacked by previous club Fiorentina at the end of last season.

Another possible replacement for Zenga is Luigi Delneri, who was in charge at the cub during the 2009/10 season, earning the side qualification for the Champions League.

Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero, meanwhile, has tweeted in support of Zenga, stating “hangs of Zenga”.
