Vicenzo Montella FiorentinaSampdoria are looking to bring in former Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella as a replacement for Walter Zenga after their humiliating 4-0 home defeat against Vojvodina in the Europa League.

Zenga’s career at the Blucerchiati is already on the line after just one game in charge, with Samp having already lined up a possible replacement for the Italian.

According to Sky Sport Italia, should Samp dismiss Zenga of his role, they will make a move for yet another former player, this time Montella and opening contact has been made.

‘The little Aeroplane’, as he is frequently referred to, has been unemployed since the end of the 2014-15 season when he was relieved of his duties by Fiorentina, and is now seen as a viable successor at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Despite having been sacked for a dispute with Fiorentina’s owners, Montella has quite a reputable CV after an impressive spell at Sicilian side Catania before lifting Fiorentina up to a fourth place finish in Serie A for three years running.

Other names that are tipped as possible replacements include former Genoa coach Luigi Delneri, Cesare Prandelli and Roberto Donandoni.
