Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has faith in coach Walter Zenga despite recent pressure.

Il Doria produced a dreadful performance in the first leg of their Europa League Qualifier losing 4-0 to Serbian side Vojvodina, leaving them on the brink of elimination and resulting in fans calling for Zenga to be sacked but Ferrero is adamant Zenga needs more time.

“It is my choice and he will remain at Sampdoria.” Ferrero told Tuttosport.

“He’s a good coach, he can continue the work begun by Mihajlovic. Give him time.

“I still believe we can qualify for the next round of the Europa League

“The players are motivated, they have realised that they played badly and they want to redeem themselves.

“In a single game they undermined all the good work they had done last season. In the first leg we were mere spectators.”
