napoli sampdoriaNapoli’s coach Maurizio Sarri tried to take the positives from a disappointing 2-2 draw against Sampdoria at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday night in Serie A.

The Partenopei were in control at half-time thanks to two goals by Gonzalo Higuain, but crumbled in a matter of seconds around the hour mark, when two goals from Eder earned the Blucerchiati a point.

“We played 55 minutes of excellent football, which is a huge step forward compared to the last game,” Sarri told Premium Sport.

“With this performance, I cannot see us failing to win matches in the long run.

“We suffered a backlash immediately after the penalty, which looked rather generous to me.

“Although we got ourselves in trouble, I saw great growth in the team, even though we could not keep it up for 90 minutes.”

According to the 56-year-old, the weather also had a factor in the drastic change of his team’s performance.

“The weather conditions were unpleasant and made it difficult for us to hold the same intensity for 90 minutes,” added Sarri.
