Scuffet- UdineseSimone Scuffet revealed that he rejected a move to Atletico Madrid in 2014 so that he could continue to develop with Udinese.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper also said that he was convinced to join Como on loan for the 2015-16 season after being impressed by the Serie B side’s ambition.

“I’ve come to Como because they gave me the impression straight away that I would be part of a club with big ambitions,” said Scuffet to Sky Sport Italia.

“The staff and my team-mates will help me a lot and I’ve found a united group here with a common purpose.”

The talented young goalkeeper went on to explain why he turned down Atletico Madrid after he caught the eye with his first team appearances for the Zebrette during the 2013-14 season.

“Last season there was interest from Atletico, but together with Udinese I decided to reject them so that I could carry on developing inside the Friulian side’s setup,” said Scuffet.

The goalkeeper also declared who his footballing idol was when he was growing up.

“As I child, I used to follow [Gianluigi] Buffon a lot, the best goalkeeper in recent years” said Scuffet.

“I saluted him when I played against him.

“Now, I’m thinking about improving without worrying about the fact that I didn’t play much last season.”
