Soriano - AC Milan v SampdoriaRoberto Soriano will not join Napoli and will remain at Sampdoria despite a deal having been agreed.

The Blucerchiati midfielder was just moments away from becoming a new Napoli player on transfer deadline day.

However, as reported by Sportitalia, when the switch has supposedly been finalised, Soriano’s contract failed to be deposited in time with the Serie A league administration.

The player cannot therefore join Napoli, and will be forced to stay at Sampdoria for at least another six months.

However, Calciomercato are suggesting that Napoli will argue the validity of the deal, but for the time being, the player will not be officially unveiled.

Juan Camilo Zuniga was meant to join Sampdoria as part of the deal, but he will also have to remain in Naples.

Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis had promised one last signing on deadline day, but missed out on Soriano and will face criticism from Napoli fans, already unhappy with the club’s current transfer window.
