Gonzalo Higuain NapoliNapoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is poised to reject the club’s offer of a contract extension.

The Argentine’s current deal runs until 2018, but amid transfer interest this summer the Partenopei had been keen to renew it, a proposition that is set to be rejected by Higuain’s camp.

“We had a meeting with the president 10 days ago in Venice and we talked about a bit of everything,” told agent Nicolas Higuain, brother of Gonzalo, to Radio Crc.

“He offered us the possibility to extend the contract for another year, however, in my opinion and our opinion, we will continue with the original contract until 2018.

“I don’t think that we will accept the proposal because it is a contract that is not so different to what we had signed before, so for us it is not a real proposal.

“We are happy and peaceful to continue with the current contract.”

Higuain has been rumoured to English Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea so far this transfer window, although interest is understood to have cooled recently.
