nikola maksimovic torinoTorino will not sell defender Nikola Maksimovic after rejecting bids from Serie A rivals Napoli bid for the Serbian.

Since joining from Red Star Belgrade in 2013, Maksimovic has continually improved and was an integral part of il Toro’s run to the last 16 of the Europa League in 2014/15, having formed an effective partnership with Kamil Glik.

Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli have now had two bids rejected by Torino, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com, with the Granata making it clear to Maksimovic that he will be kept at the Stadio Olimpico for at least another season, despite the 23-year-old being keen on a move south.

After meeting coach Giampiero Ventura, Maksimovic has had it made clear Torino will not sell another of their best players after Italian wing-back Matteo Darmian joined Manchester United.

The defender, who has seven caps for Serbia, has made 58 appearances but is yet to score a goal for Toro, who finished ninth in Serie A last season.
