Sebastian Giovinco- TorontoToronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco has said he is surprised but at the same time delighted by his call up to the Italian national squad.

The former Juventus striker has been in fine form in Canada scoring 17 goals in 25 games in the MLS.

“Italy? I was not expecting it but I was hoping they saw the work I’m doing,” Giovinco told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m happy. The football in Canada? It’s strange but entertaining football, there are many areas where the level is still not like the Italian league or European, but there is room for growth.

“There is definitely less pressure than in Italy but I’m very happy with my choice.

“Juventus in Serie A? It’s a strange situation but there is plenty of time to recover. ”
