Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo has expressed his delight after the Zebrette opened their season with a win at Juventus.
A Cyril Thereau goal was enough to depose the champions, who were unable to break through a resolute rearguard action from the Friulian side.
“It was a happy evening and a deserved victory,” Pozzo said to the Udinese Channel in high spirits.
“Now, as ever, they will say that Juve were not as good as last year and they gave us a chance. Not so. Juve tried hard, fought and attacked for a long time.
“We were sorted and organised and every player did his duty and displayed his talent. I am very satisfied, and convinced by the team.
“For me, the work of the club has been enough. The coach, and his handling of things is important. [Stefano] Colantuono has a great personality and experience and is giving the team everything he has.”
