Sampdoria coach Walter Zenga has said that his side are a team of men after winning 2-0 against Serbian side Vojvodina in the Europa League third qualifying round.
Despite winning the second leg in Novi Sad on Thursday night, the Blucerchiati weren’t able to comeback from their 4-0 loss to the Serbians a week ago and were sent tumbling out of the competition.
“Tonight’s performance was important, we have shown that we can play. The elimination is the result of what happened a week ago in the second half. If we got here with a 0-2 loss [from last week], we would be playing extra time right now.
“We are sorry for the second half in Turin, it taught us a lot and will give us a boost for the future. To go out of a cup it is never pleasing, but we are a real team, made up of men, and there we can take some satisfaction.”
