Sampdoria coach Walter Zenga has told his team to do everything they can to get back into their Europa League Qualifier against Vojvodina.

Il Doria produced a shocking performance in the first leg, losing 4-0 to the Serbian side  and now have a mountain to climb away in Novi Sad if they wish to qualify for the next round.

“I feel calm, determined and focused, if I preoccupy myself with the ramifications of failure I would not be a good coach,” said Zenga to La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of the second leg.

Following the result in the first leg there have been rumours that president Massimo Ferrero is already lining up a replacement for the under-pressure Italian, however, Zenga said this was a positive sign for the club.

“He’s [Ferrero] contacted other coaches? It means that Sampdoria is a serious club,” said Zenga.

“I have asked my team to go onto the field to recover the honour and dignity we lost in the first leg, to give back to Ferrero and our fans.

“We’re almost out, but still not 100 per cent.”
