The Rossoneri started the game well and could have scored early on but were eventually denied a share of the spoils by a Fredy Guarin goal.
“Losing the derby in such a manner has left the team very disappointed,” De Sciglio told Milan Channel.
“As for the game I think we deserved the victory.
“Unfortunately derby matches are the kind of games in which just a single moment can turn the match.
“We were much better than we had been in the first two games.
“I think we are on the right road. We must try to continue on the same path with the same desire that we showed on Sunday.”
The Italian international also praised the performances of Riccardo Montolivo and Mario Balotelli who came off the bench.
“It was definitely important to have Montolivo back in the team,” De Sciglio continued.
“He has great quality but that is not to say that we need him more than Nigel [De Jong].
“Mario is doing well and even in training he is working hard.
“We hope that he continues like this because the Mario we saw on Sunday will give us a big hand during the whole season.”
