AC Milan feel through because the two clubs could not agree on the payment method.

The Belgian had been courted by the Rossoneri for a couple of weeks but a move could not be pushed through on deadline day.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, an agreement hadn’t been reached on Witsel’s loan as Zenit wanted Milan to have the obligation of signing the player after the loan whereas the Rossoneri only wanted to have the right to sign him.

The 26-year-old has made 121 appearances for the Russian club scoring 15 goals.

Milan’s failure to sign him means that there is still a chance of Tottenham signing the player before the end of the Premier League transfer window.
