Jonathan De Guzman NapoliFootball agent Vincenzo Morabito has claimed Jonathan De Guzman’s move to Bournemouth collapsed due to the demands of the player’s own agent.

The Napoli midfielder seemed on the brink of a move to the newly promoted Premier League side, before the transfer fell through after the Netherlands international’s agent, Fabio Parisi, confirmed that the midfielder would be rejecting a deal with the Cherries.

“I tried to help Cristiano Guintoli [Napoli sporting director] in the negotiations to send the midfielder to Bournemouth,” said Morabito in quotes reported by the website TuttoNapoli.

“The deal was in the pipeline and the player himself had accepted it, but the arrogance of the agent blew everything.

“We often forget that the real owners of the players are the clubs and not the agents.”

Morabito claimed that the terms of the Dutchman’s proposed move to Bournemouth included the Premier League side paying an initial loan fee of €1 million with the right to purchase the 27-year-old outright next summer for €5m.

De Guzman joined Napoli from Primera Division side Villarreal on a four-year deal last summer after spending the final two years of his time with the Spanish side on loan at Swansea City.
