Internacional goalkeeper Alisson Becker says that Roma tried to sign him during the summer transfer window.

The Giallorossi were in the market for a new shot-stopper during the summer and ended up signing Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on-loan for the 2015-2016 season.

“I received an offer of a contract, and I know Roma also spoke with my club Internacional,” Alisson told Globoesporte.

“It was decided that I should stay in Brazil for the moment because the transfer marker is closed.

“So at the moment nothing is going to happen for sure.

“Now I want to think about the Brazil national team and my club.

“But I do not hide my dream that one day I want to play in Europe.

“But we did talk a lot with Roma, so we just have to wait and see what happens in the future.”

The 22-year-old has made 28 appearances for the Colorado since making his debut in 2013 and has represented Brazil at under-17 and under-20 level.

The Novo Hamburgo born goalkeeper was called up by Brazil coach Dunga for the Selecao’s upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica and the United States in New Jersey and Foxborough respectively on 5 and 8 of September.
