La Dea’s 2-1 win against Sampdoria on Monday night.

A Niklas Moisander own goal and German Denis finish sealed the win for Atalanta before Roberto Soriano scored a consolation goal and Reja has since expressed his delight due to the good form his squad is in.

“We must always watch our backs but the squad is doing well,” Reja told Sky Sport Italia.

“[Alejandro] Gomez and Maxi [Moralez] are two very important players but it is the whole squad that is doing well.”

Reja also praised Dutch midfielder Marten De Roon, who has been a fine performer for Atalanta since arriving from Heerenveen in the summer.

“He is a great player [and] he is a high-level performer. At the end, he said to me that he couldn’t do anymore but no substitutions were left,” Reja said.

“Then I moved him to the right [side for him] to breathe, putting [Giulio] Migliaccio in the middle. De Roon dictated the play [and] he is a very important player for us.”
