Atletico Madrid full-back Guilherme Siqueira has hit out at Juventus following his failed transfer to the Italian champions this summer.

The former Udinese defender was linked with the Bianconeri for much of the transfer window but the side from Turin eventually signed Alex Sandro at left-back instead.

“Atletico [Madrid] have never put pressure on me in any way, so I’m happy to stay,” said Siqueira to El Mundo Deportivo as he explained the situation.

“For many years, I’ve received offers from other clubs that have failed to materialise, I’m used to it now.

“I knew that even though I’ve had many good offers to leave, Atletico have always left the door open for me, so I would have been happy either way.”

The defender was then asked specifically about his failed transfer to Juventus this summer.

“I don’t know what happened with Juve, I do not believe it was my fault or Atletico’s, it was Juventus who were responsible.

“We all did what we could, but in the end it was Juventus who halted the move as they signed another player instead.”
