Chievo winger Paul-Jose M’Poku has reportedly suffered a fractured cheekbone following an alleged elbow from Inter midfielder Felipe Melo on Sunday.

The collision, which occurred late in the second half of the Gialloblu’s 1-0 defeat to the Nerazzurri at the Stadio Bentegodi on September 20, even saw Flying Donkeys boss Rolando Maran sent off for his protesting, though Melo went without punishment and M’Poku remained on the pitch as the hosts were out of substitutions.

According to ChievoVerona.it, tests revealed that the 23-year-old suffered a fracture in his right cheekbone and will be out of action for an undetermined amount of time.

While his recovery time is yet to be known, the Congolese winger is definitely expected to miss out on the Gialloblu’s home match against Torino on Wednesday.

M’Poku, who arrived at Chievo on a season-long loan from Standard Liege over the summer, has made three Serie A appearances this term thus far.
