The Slovenian international is now into his sixth season in Italy, with Palermo and Fiorentina, and Ilicic was to continue his stay in Serie A.
“I am really happy to be part of Fiorentina,” Ilicic told Sky Sport Italia.
“I love playing for the team and I dont regret joining La Viola.
“This is my sixth season in Serie A and I have had an amazing time here.
“I really want to stay here and continue to play for Fiorentina.
“The new coach [Paulo] Sousa is great.
“He has introduced some changes from the past but not many.
“We are doing very well with him and I am really pleased to be part of this exciting side.”
