Matias Fernandez FiorentinaFiorentina midfielder Matias Fernandez has reportedly agreed a new contract with the club according to his agent Alejandro Santisteban.

The Chilean has been in talks with the Viola in the past couple of weeks as they look to tie down the contracts of several first team players, including Marcos Alonso and Gonzalo Rodriguez.

”Mati and his family are happy in Florence and the player wants to stay at Fiorentina,” said Santisteban to Toscana TV.

”During the transfer window he didn’t take any other offers into consideration and we already have a contract agreement with the Gigliati until 2018.”

Fernandez signed for Fiorentina from Sporting Clube de Portugal in 2012 for an initial €3.1 million.

He has been a regular presence in the Viola lineup since, making 107 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals.
