Parma president Giampietro Manenti has been banned from football for five years after being caught using illicit means in order to help the club avoid bankruptcy.
Manenti, who is still awaiting his trial after being arrested on charges of money laundering earlier in March, has banned from football by the Italian football federation.
The Italian businessman took over as Parma’s owner at the start of the year, however the club’s situation soon spiralled out of control after he broke promises to clear up the financial problems – resulting in the club being declared bankrupt with debts of more than €200 million.
It is alleged that upon investigation from the authorities and FIGC, the patron was found to have attempted to receive money of an illicit origin from a bank in Siena.
The former president has also been accused of contacting a criminal gang in order to buy clone credit cards.
Parma have since been revived, with the club now playing in Serie D under the name Parma Calcio 1913.
