Former Roma star Vincent Candela has been impressed with the club’s transfer activity, tipping them to lift the Scudetto at the end of the season.
The 41-year-old feels his former club have had a much more impressive transfer window than in previous seasons, giving them a platform to challenge for honours.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Candela stated “I liked Roma’s deals during this transfer window a lot, much more than last year. In attack Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko are two great buys, maybe we could have done with another central defender. Although, Daniele De Rossi showed he can play that role against Juventus however.”
Roma have not won the Scudetto since Fabio Capello’s side lifted the trophy in 2001, but Candela believes the Lupi can end their drought.
“I would say Roma are the favourites, alongside Juventus, but the championship will be the closest of recent years. Inter and AC Milan will be protagonists again.”
The Frenchman represented Roma from 1997 to 2005, winning the Serie A title in 2001.
