Inter defender Martin Montoya has rubbished claims that the Spanish international has failed to settle in at the club and is looking for a return to La Liga outfit Barcelona.

The 24-year-old, who had failed to cement a regular starting spot at the Blaugrana, arrived at the Nerazzurri on loan during the summer in the hope of playing first team football. Since his arrival, however, Montoya has yet to make his debut and, as such, reports suggested the full-back could be on his way out, rumours his agent, Juan De Dios Carrasco, was quick to deny.

“It’s all false,” Carrasco told Calciomercato.it.

“Montoya is adapting to Italian football, which is different to the Spanish and Barcelona style.

“He needs time to become a major player. It has been quiet so far but he was very happy to win the derby.

“The team is first in the league and Martin thinks only about working hard to fit tactically and physically in this new system.

“He is very happy in Milan, is adapting well to the environment, with the club and with the coach [Roberto Mancini].

The league-leaders are preparing to take on second-placed Chievo in an early top of the table clash at Bentegodi.”
