New Juventus signing Mario Lemina has revealed he aims to reach the level of performance produced by former Bianconeri favourite Arturo Vidal.

The 22-year-old Gabonese midfielder joined Juventus on deadline day on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 club Marseille, with a clause to make the deal permeant for €9.5 million.

“I chose Juventus because it is an excellent team. I want to be part of this project, there were other teams that tried to sign me but I gave precedence to Juve,” Lemina told Sky Sport Italia.

“The coach will call me when I am ready, I have to work to become part of this team. In my role Juve already has great champions. When I am called upon I will do everything to help the team win.”

The former Lorient player revealed Alessandro Del Piero and Pavel Nedved are just two of his boyhood heroes, while admitting himself and Vidal share similar qualities.

“We have some things in common. We like to defend and attack. I do not know if I can do what he did here because he achieved so much. I hope to reach his level here,” Lemina added.

“Del Piero inspired me, unfortunately I am not a striker and I can’t aspire to him right now. Nedved is aplayer who played a similar role to my own. He was a player with a great determination, he scored a lot of goals.”
