Midfielder Mario Lemina spoke of his happiness at celebrating his 22nd birthday as a Juventus player.

The Gabonese footballer joined Juve on deadline day on a season-long loan from Marseille, with a clause to make the deal permeant for €9.5 million.

“I believe that the formation used by Juventus will allow me to help the team and I’ve always liked the side for their style of play,” said Lemina to the club’s official website.

“My favourite role is that of a box-to-box midfielder, which was the role I occupied recently at Marseille.

“We’ve all seen that Juventus are a team that always win in the league and in the cups; last season they made the Champions League final but unfortunately it didn’t go well.

“Now I am here and we will try to repeat what was achieved last season and maybe improve on it.

“I am very happy to celebrate my birthday as a Juventus player but I don’t want my presence in the squad to be an endpoint in itself.

“I want to show that I can play an important role in the team and I hope that it won’t be long before I take to the pitch in a black and white shirt.”

Lemina was called up to the Gabon squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations but the Juventus player turned down the land of his birth and the midfielder has represented France at youth level.
