Higuain - NapoliNapoli legend Luis Vinicio hopes to see positivity from club striker Gonzalo Higuain, after the Argentine failed to engineer a move away during the transfer window.

The former Real Madrid hitman had seen keen interest in his services from other clubs, but with a move never materialising Vinicio is hopeful that the player still has a desire to appear for the Partenopei.

“If Higuain has stayed with desire, then it is fine,” said the 83-year-old former Napoli coach to TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Otherwise, it can be a big problem, as he is an extraordinary and important player.”

Moving on to the subject of Napoli’s new coach, Maurizio Sarri, Vinicio urged that supporters wait to see what he can bring to the club over a longer time period.

“We have to wait for him to do his job, you do not judge a season by the two starting games.

“It deserves patience, even by those who have already begun to dispute.”
