Sampdoria-Genoa serie ALuca Antonini has revealed his happiness at signing for Serie B side Ascoli.

The Italian full-back moved to the newly promoted side after having his contract rescinded at former club Genoa, and he spoke about what he the club can achieve as well as his role on the pitch.

“The negotiations were very quick and I didn’t think twice about accepting,” Antonini told the club’s website.

“Ascoli is a team that deserves to reach important goals and I hope to contribute to these successes of this club that merits to be in Serie A.

“I’m arriving with great humility and I will put myself at the disposal of the group and the coach.

“I can play on the right and left side of defence and recently I have also played as a centre-back. The coach will decide where it is best to deploy me.

The 33-year-old made over 100 appearances for Milan between 2008 and 2013 before moving to the Grifone.
