cesare prandelli italyFormer Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has praised the direction Torino president Urbano Cairo has taken with his squad building.

This season Il Toro have been using a lot of Italian players, with Marco Benassi, Daniele Baselli and Davide Zappacosta all shining and helping the Granata win four out of their six games.

“I say bravo to Cairo that he has decided to invest in young Italians.” said Prandelli to Tuttosport.

“In Serie A there is only Sassuolo who tried the same approach, and if the trend does not change no-one can hope for something positive for our national team.

“He is doing something for the future.

“I remember that after the negative experience of the World Cup in Brazil, many presidents said that it was time to change something, but the words are not followed by actions.”

The former Fiorentina coach also thinks teams should be braver when it comes to giving young players a chance.

“You should have more courage, making it possible for young players from the youth teams to have more playing time. ”
