Palermo defender Andrea Rispoli has revealed that he and his team-mates are happy to have Alberto Gilardino in the squad and admits that he’s satisfied with the club’s start to the 2015-16 campaign.

The veteran Gilardino arrived at the Rosanero from Chinese giants Guanzhou Evergrande on August 27 and the 26-year-old believes that the former Fiorentina man can help the Sicilian side continue their success in the Serie A, as they’ve won both of their first two games this term thus far.

Rispoli spoke to GianlucaDiMarzio.com about Palermo’s positive start to the season and praised the club for signing Gilardino, while also commenting on his team’s upcoming home match against newly promoted Carpi on September 13.

“The Serie A is difficult,” said the Italian right-back. “We face every game as if it’s a final. It’s not easy to continue like this, but we’ll give our all to do well.

“Gilardino? For us, he’s a player who gives much experience and security to the team. He also gives us a lot of strength and skill in our attack.

“We are happy with Palermo’s purchase of him. He’s been training well with us.

“Our next match against Carpi? We should not underestimate Carpi, or our opponents in any game.

“They played well against Inter and only lost because of a penalty kick, so we understand that they could give us a hard time.

“Home fans can intimidate the other team and can become an extra man in the field, so I’m sure this will work to our advantage.

“We will continue to do as we have done up until now and I’m sure that we will not disappoint.”
