Roma have completed the signing of Brazilian left-back Emerson Palmieri from Santos.
The 21-year-old has previous Serie A experience, having made nine appearances last season during a loan spell at Palermo.
“AS Roma is pleased to announce that Brazilian left-back Emerson Palmieri has joined the club on loan from Santos”, revealed the Giallorossi via their official website.
The former Brazil under-17 international will fill the gap left by Ashley Cole who was released from the Stadio Olimpico after a disappointing year in the Eternal City.
Emerson is the latest in a line of new signings that Roma have made in order to bolster their defence following some shaky pre-season outings.
Rudio Garcia’s side have already signed goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny from Arsenal in addition to defenders: Antonio Rudiger, Norbert Gyomber and Lucas Digne.
