Ashley Cole RomaRoma full-back Ashley Cole rejected a return to the Premier League with Newcastle United.

Cole has endured a torrid time since moving to Rome. The former Chelsea player was initially greeted as a solid signing, however he endured a horrendousĀ run of form last season, leading to him being dropped from the first-team.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former England international was offered a move to The Magpies on transfer deadline day but Cole was not interested in returning to England’s top league.

The 34-year-old made just 16 appearances in his debut season for the Giallorossi.

Cole has won 11 major honours during his career, including one Champions League and three Premier League titles. He has also won a remarkable seven FA Cup trophies during his time at Arsenal and Chelsea.
