Game week four of Serie A action did not disappoint in delivering some incredibly entertaining fixtures and a jaw-dropping result or two.

In the biggest game of the round, Napoli got revenge over Lazio as they thumped the Biancocelesti 5-0 at the Stadio San Paolo, AC Milan ground out a 3-2 win over Palermo, while their city rivals Inter claimed a 1-0 away win against Chievo.

Juventus got their first Serie A win of the season away to Genoa,  Roma were held at home to Sassuolo in an entertaining meeting, and Fiorentina saw off newcomers Carpi by a single goal.

In other results around Serie A, Empoli won at Udinese, Bologna beat Frosinone, while Atalanta and Hellas Verona shared the points in Bergamo.

Our Team of the Week will see a 3-4-3 formation deployed.

Marco Sportiello – Atalanta

The young goalkeeper will feel unlucky not to have claimed all three points against Verona on Sunday as his side conceded a last-gasp equaliser having only taken the lead themselves late in regular time. The Italian did well to deny Giampaolo Pazzini at 0-0, and was commanding of his area throughout the game.

Bruno Peres – Torino (Two Team of the Week appearances)

The marauding Brazilian was brilliant as Toro claimed victory over Sampdoria and was a constant threat in attack for his side. He was extremely direct throughout the match and was rewarded with an assist for one of Fabio Quagliarella’s goals.

Team of the week 4 2015-16Francesco Acerbi – Sassuolo (2 apps)

The Neroverdi defender had a good game despite his side conceding twice at the Stadio Olimpico. Was exposed a few times by the pace of Salah but few can keep up with the Roma winger. Good anticipation put allowed him to clean up on several occasions.

Kamil Glik – Torino

The Polish defender was accomplished as ever in his side’s victory. Typically reliable in defence, the only disappointment he will have is that he didn’t add a goal himself going forward.

Allan – Napoli

The ex-Udinese man came close from range early on, before finding himself on the scoresheet to add his side’s second goal after picking up on a brilliant Lorenzo Insigne pass. He would later return the favour with a sublime through ball to find substitute Manolo Gabbiadini, who went on to convert the chance.

Oscar Hiljemark – Palermo

The Swede scored both his side’s goals at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and was brilliant from the first minute. Will be disappointed to have been substituted with his side chasing an equaliser late on as he sought his hattrick.

Giacomo Bonaventura – AC Milan

The former Atalanta man showed some brilliant footwork in a crowded box matched with quick thinking and improvisation to provide the assist for Carlos Bacca’s opener. The man affectionately referred to as Jack went on to add a delightful second as he curled in a free kick from the edge of the Rosanero box.

Lorenzo Insigne – Napoli

The Neapolitan looked to be at his best on Sunday as the Partenopei were rampant. He and Gonzalo Higuain looked unstoppable and terrorised Lazio all night. Deservedly got himself a goal as he rebounded a parried Higuain shot.

Mohamed Salah – Roma

The Egyptian will be delighted to have scored his first Serie A goal for the Giallorossi, which he dispatched well with an excellent volley. Looked unstoppable in possession as his dribbling was brilliant. Without the ball he worked well, winning tackles and even blocking the occasional shot.

Gonzalo Higuain – Napoli (2 apps)

The Argentine forward exorcised some personal demons with a phenomenal performance on Sunday, reminding many why he is one of, if not the best striker in Serie A. Bagged two goals for himself, which could have been more as he went on a meandering run only to see his shot saved and rebounded in by Insigne.

Fabio Quagliarella – Torino

The experienced forward scored both goals in his side’s defeat of his former club Sampdoria. He didn’t offer much for the majority of the match but did what he does best as scored twice despite this. The former Juventus man appears to be getting better with age.
