silvio berlusconiAC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has insisted that he will not leave the club until they win trophies again.

Berlusconi has been in charge of Milan since he bought the club nearly 30 years ago and in a upcoming biography on the former Italian prime minister, the Milan president has spoken about the three best coaches during his time at the club.

“I will only go when I have won again at Milan,” One of the extracts from the book states.

“I never once dictated training.

“Sure, I have often suggested things.

“I always discuss things with my coaches, we talk about things before training and after matches.

“Sometimes, I don’t agree with the coach and in those cases, he wins.

“Never have I abused my position as owner and president of the club.

“I never tried to have more of an influence on the team than the coach because after all, he is responsible for the results of the team.”

In other extracts from the book Berlusconi spoke about some of the great coaches during his time at Milan such as Fabio Capello.

Fabio Capello - AC Milan

“I remember Capello as a player and I thought he would go on to become a good coach,” Berlusconi admits.

“I invited him to attend a school for coaches and he did.

“When we needed a new coach at Milan, I immediately thought of him.

“I thought [Arrigo] Sachi was the right coach for Milan because I had carefully observed how his teams played.

“His teams were not ones who had the typical defensive philosophy of Italian football.

“He pushed his teams to attack and most of all, to win.

“Galliani and I went to meet him in Parma for lunch and I liked him immediately as a person, although he could be a difficult character.

arrigo sacchi

“Sacchi is a proud man, a very strong personality and it is hard to change his mind.

“He proved to be an excellent choice.”

“Ancelotti was a hard worker, always open to new ideas.

“We worked in total harmony and complete agreement about how best to deploy the team on the field.

“He also had an excellent relationship with the players.

“A great coach is not only responsible for the tactical side of things but they must also be a leader, inspiring feelings of confidence, respect, sympathy and even affection in his players.

“Ancelotti did very well.

Pirlo and Ancelotti - AC Milan

“I called him the father of our children.

“He completes the trio of the great Milan coaches: Sacchi, Capello, Ancelotti. I think in the future it will be difficult to find three as good as them.”
