Sevilla defender Marco Andreolli has revealed that he was excited to begin a new adventure in Spain following his rocky stint at Inter.

The 29-year-old, who spent some time in the Biscione’s youth academy and briefly played for the club at the start of his professional career from 2005-07, had a hard time breaking into the Nerazzurri squad after rejoining the club from Chievo in 2013 but managed to secure a loan transfer to the Rojiblancos over the summer, and he admits that he was immediately attracted to the unity he witnessed at the club.

Andreolli spoke to Mundo Deportivo about his time at Sevilla thus far and his departure from Inter, while also commenting on his new team’s triumphant 2-1 win over Barcelona on October 3.

“My farewell to Inter? Everything happened very quickly,” said the Italian.

“It was very stimulating to jump into a new league, even if it’s been difficult to catch on to the language.

“I’m slowly getting to know all of my team-mates and I can see the strength possessed by this Sevilla side, as well as the unity here. I’ve always seen a tight group.

“The beginning of the season wasn’t the best but our victory against Barcelona has been very important.

“Winning against opponents of that calibre has given everyone a great sense of confidence while we work, which will help us better prepare for all of our upcoming matches.”
