Atalanta coach Edoardo Reja has likened his side’s upcoming game against Fiorentina to that of ‘climbing a mountain’, whilst praising the Viola to their quick rise to the top.

La Dea face a tough task travelling to Tuscany on Sunday evening, despite the fact that they too are unbeaten in their past few games and have only lost one match so far this season.

“Playing against Fiorentina will be like climbing a mountain, such as the Dolomites in the Giro d’Italia, considering their value and what they have done recently,” said Reja in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s not a surprise that Fiorentina are doing so well, after all they did manage to beat both Chelsea and Barcelona this summer.

“They’re not top of Serie A for no reason. I have to congratulate the [Fiorentina co-owners, Andrea and Diego] Della Valle’s, because they never pick the wrong men for the job.

“Even under [coach] Paulo Sousa no-one imagined them doing so well at such a level.

“However, compliments aside I hope that the Viola run into some problems against us, because, touching wood, we too are doing well.”

Reja then focused on what his side must improve upon if they are to cause their upcoming hosts and troubles.

“We must try to make more of our opportunities, as we create so many chances yet score so little.

“Now with great humility we’ll continue to work and improve. We enjoyed quite a favourable start to the season and now we are about to face sides of genuine quality.”
