giacomo bonaventura ac milanItaly coach Antonio Conte has summoned AC Milan’s attacking midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura to replace injured Lorenzo Insigne ahead of the Azzurri’s upcoming European qualifiers.

Upon arriving at the training camp in Converciano, Bonaventura shared his excitement about his return to the Italy squad as he looks ahead to the fixtures against Azerbaijan and Norway.

“I’m happy to go, this is a great incentive for me to improve,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“I have to play my best.

“I want to become an important player for the national team.”

The 26-year old  has registered two goals and three assists in seven matches despite Milan’s current struggles and will be rewarded by likely making his first competitive appearance for Italy in Saturday’s match against Azerbaijan where they have the opportunity to rubber-stamp their qualification for next summer’s tournament in France.
