Former Juventus and Roma midfielder Zbigniew Boniek discussed the opening weeks of Serie A and lamented the poor starts both clubs have endured.
Although he is now current chairman of the Polish Football Association, Boniek was a Serie A star throughout the 1980s, making 157 Serie A appearances between 1982 and 1988.
Nevertheless, Boniek has suggested that Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has been struggling with conflict within the Bianconeri dressing room.
“The Serie A opening has been strange, there are no standouts or leaders,” he told Il Mattino.
“’I’m astonished by the absence of Juventus and Roma from the top spots.
“There are clearly a lot of problems at Juventus. In the end, they’ll come out with the character of men. The departures in the summer signaled the end of a cycle.”
Juventus currently find themselves in 15th spot with one win in six outings while Roma sit in sixth position having won three of their six matches.
