Antonio Conte showed gratitude for his players after Italy earned qualification to Euro 2016 with a 3-1 victory over Azerbaijan in Baku on Saturday.
The Azzurri opened their goalscoring through Eder before Stephan El Shaarawy put Italy back in front after Azerbaijan equalised, then Matteo Darmian secured the win with his first international goal.
“It might have seemed simple, but it was far from easy,” Conte told Rai after the result.
“The victory is for the group of players, they were superb.
“We are growing, we are working well, but we have to continue like this.”
The coach continued stating his determination to finish on a high note against Norway in the final Group H clash.
“This is a team that are becoming more and more tactical awareness, and this is important,” Conte added.
“It is a great achievement to qualify, that was our goal at the start and it is great that we have made it.
“There is the game against Norway, we must honour the competition and play our best in the game.”
