Aurelio De LaurentiisNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has continued to pressurise the city’s mayor Luigi De Magistris regarding the proposed rejuvenation work of the Stadio San Paolo.

The film producer was recently criticised for the delays concerning the stadium’s rebuilding but he has instead shifted the blame upon the local councillor Magistris.

“The stadium is ugly? You should tell the mayor and not me,” stated De Laurentiis on satirical news show Striscia La Notizia.

“We are hoping to convince him to agree to our building plans, but it all depends on him.”

De Magistris recently claimed that the Partenopei have made no attempt to help with the renovation of the stadium, which De Laurentiis has since disputed.

The Stadio San Paolo was initially constructed in 1959, but underwent extensive renovations before the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
